Rhino file formats aren't forward-compatible. A .3dm saved in Rhino 8 uses features and structures older versions simply don't understand — so Rhino 7 refuses to open it. The fix is to re-save the file to the older format, which is exactly what this tool does using the official OpenNURBS libraries.

Can Rhino 8 files be opened in Rhino 7?
Not directly — Rhino file formats aren't forward-compatible. Convert the file to Rhino 7 format here first, then it opens natively.
What Rhino versions are supported?

Will my geometry change?
NURBS geometry, curves, meshes, layers and blocks are preserved. Features newer than the target format are translated to their closest equivalent, exactly like Rhino's own Save As.
Is my file stored?

How long are files kept?
