How to Downgrade Rhino Files (Any Version)
A step-by-step guide to converting Rhino .3dm files to older versions — Rhino 8, 7, 6, 5 and earlier.
Step 1: Check your file's version
Drop your .3dm file into RhinoFileConverter. The original Rhino version is read from the file header instantly, before any conversion happens.
Step 2: Pick a target version
Choose any older version from Rhino 7 down to Rhino 2. As a rule of thumb, pick the newest version your recipient can open — the newer the target format, the more features survive the trip.
